Our Story
We met in a romantic place: cyberspace. On September 9, 2011, at 8:40 p.m., Josh, aka "Kobjo", emailed Amy, aka "Amyski76". Intrigued by her apparent passion for outdoor activity, skiing and her obvious good looks, Josh penned a truly romantic and suave opening line: "So, I love your profile." And so it began.
In the next few days, Amy and Josh exchanged a few emails--each becoming more interested in the other. Josh shared that he had spent a year being a ski bum in Breckenridge, Colorado. For anyone who knows Amy, a world traveler who has skied in the back country of Chile, traveled through South East Asia and Tanzania, ski bumming was one thing she always dreamed of doing. As if that wasn't enough to get her out on a date, Josh mentioned he owned a yellow lab named Kobie. As a little girl Amy always begged her family for a dog and walked the neighborhood dogs for free.
The first date was set for September 16, 2011. We went to Tico in the Back Bay. It was really the perfect date; we couldn't stop talking, laughing, and neither of us wanted the date to end. For many weeks we went on dates and had fun exploring the city together. As November rolled around, our relationship progressed to "exclusive" status (online profiles came down) and we each realized there was something special happening. But there was still one issue lurking in the background: both of us wondered quietly whether the other could really ski or if it was "all talk."
Then snow came and the first ski trip was planned. We went to Killington--a mountain at which we each had long histories skiing. When we got off the chairlift for our first run, the anticipation level was high. We each wondered how good the other was. Secretly, Josh was worried about Amy being better than him. Amy was nervous she would not be able to keep up. Not wanting to let her get out of the gates first, Josh took off at high speed, ripping turns down a moderately steep run. Assuming he had left her in the dust, Josh slowed to a stop to have a look and see how far behind she was. To his surprise, she was right on his tail and blew by him as he came to a stop. We knew we had each met our match on the slopes. In our first winter, we skied many times together in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Colorado, creating many lasting memories.
Our interests in so many things overlap: music, the outdoors, hiking, biking, skiing, among other things. Always laughing and enjoying each other, our first year was incredible. So, when our 1st year anniversary was coming, Josh had no doubt about what was next. On September 15, 2012--one year from our first date--we took Kobie for a hike to the top of Blue Hills in Canton, Massachusetts. When we got to the top, we sat atop the mountain, alone, looking out into the horizon. Josh pulled the ring from his backpack and proposed marriage. Needless to say, Amy said yes!
We have created so many memories together since we have met. We both feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and to have such wonderful family and friends with whom to share our relationship!
